Attend Our Virtual College Savings Events and Put a Plan in Place…

We can’t believe summer is halfway over! Before you know it, school will be starting again and that’s why now is a great time to get a jumpstart on your college savings goals.

The Michigan Education Trust (MET) is a 529 educational savings plan established in 1988 in an effort to help residents lock-in tuition at the current price. In 2000, the State expanded its options for residents by adding the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP). MESP is a direct-sold 529 college savings plan and is managed by TIAA, Tuition Financing Incorporated.

What the webinars will cover:

* The benefits of using a 529 as your college savings vehicle
* What you need to know about both MET and MESP programs
* Where you can use your MET or MESP savings
* How the MI income tax deduction works
* How to get started with the right plan for your family

REGISTER NOW at the links below for the upcoming webinars:

  • JULY 15: Learn more about MET. The webinar will be hosted Thursday, July 15 at noon. This is a great introduction to Michigan’s 529 prepaid tuition plan and how it can help ease your college savings worries.
  • JULY 20: Join us on Tuesday, July 20 at noon for a joint MET and MESP webinar. Both plans offer flexible features and tax advantages to help save for a child’s future college education.
  • JULY 27: Attend our final joint webinar of the month on Thursday, July 27 at noon. We will discuss the similarities and differences between the MET and MESP programs.

Can’t attend one of these events? We would be happy to schedule a one-on-one appointment with you. If you are interested in scheduling a phone or virtual one-on-one appointment, please email us at TreasMET@Michigan.gov.
